There’s a new templar on the scene with a live stream that is becoming rapidly popular.

This stream features a templar venturing into enemy kiosk zones alone, or solo-pvping in abyss. From a quick glance, it doesn’t seem all that different from every other stream.

However, once you watch one of his streams, you’ll immediately come to notice the powerful endurance of the Templar has he takes on groups of enemies at once. It deemed interesting enough for many; even for some who doesn’t even play Aion.

The player in spotlight today is 초유량, an Asomidan templar from 메스람타server. Let’s start with a quick 1 minute highlight clip from one of his streams.

He was also recently featured in our video section. We met up with him for a quality time.

We were actually declined several times as he claimed there were far better Templar players than himself. While his real voice in streams were soothing and even peaceful, he had a charismatic character with a manly scar on his face.

Q. Many people are awed by your PvP. What are your thoughts?

While sorcerers and assassins have dps skills to shine their high damage role in pvp, we Templars have [Shield of Jikal], a skill that lets us survive much longer by strengthening our shield defense.

I’m doing as good as I’m doing because I make use of every skill I have. I’m sure there are many other templars can do just as well as me.

Q. You are alone in most of your videos. Any particular reasons?

I played solo-style in Lineage1, and Lineage2 as well. I guess it sort of stuck on me. I don’t really have particular reasons why.

It’s not like I avoid group pvp completely. Templars are just fine by themselves as they have such high defense, which is what I try to emphasize in my gear as well.

Q. Do you mind showing us your gear?

Hehe. There’s ton of people out there who have better gear than me, but sure. I actually have bunch of mixed pieces of 십부장, 천부장 and crafted gear. I have +10 Shining 암룡왕의 longsword and +2% paralyze divine stones.

I socketed evenly for attack power, shield defense, and crits. Right now, I’m at 462 AP, 2073 shield defense, and 300 crit.

I’m aiming for 2200 shield defense.

Q. Best 3 skills for Templars in PvP?

Pull (basically DK death grip) , Shield stun, and Mass taunt. (works like warrior demo shout, used to reveal stealth) Pull and shield stun is bread and butter for templars, and mass taunt works very nicely against assassins.

Q. What do you think makes you differ from other Templars?

A lot of people ask me why I use [+30% AP buff] instead of [100% single attack buff]

I think it’s fairly self explanatory. Added with proper stignma, you gain much more from 30% AP for 30 seconds.

I use Pull and Shield stun stigmas so I have maximum number of interrupts to use.

Q. You seem like you’re hiting quite hard even tho you’re a templar. What are your thoughts?

Well a kill is hard to pull off unless I have everything off cooldown.

When I am scoring quick kills on streams, thats when I’m popping every single cooldown I have at once.

Q. I still remember that one time when you killed a whole group by yourself. How did you do that?

Well, its mostly because I excell at solo pvp and because I tend to be near Kiosk zones (aka Graveyards but players spawn with low HP in Aion)

Please keep in mind there’s no way I can kill a group of equal lvl, equal gear players.

Even if you’re going against a group of low levels, you need to be aware of the group composition. I don’t charge in unless I was sure I had a high chance of winning.

Please don’t look at my videos and cry for Templar nerfs.

Q. How much AP do you get per day?

I have a job so I don’t get much. I get about 10k~20k on weekdays and 30k~40k on weekends.

Q. You have a +10 Shining 암룡왕의 longsword. How is that working out for you

If we’re just talking swords then it’s probably one of the best swords for Templars right now, but I think overall gear level is most important.

I tried to maximize for defense while maintaining a decent amount of AP. I got the weapon I wanted, but I still have a long way to go with armor and accessories.

Q. What are some of the classes you have hard time beating?

Duels – Spiritmasters. In 1v1s where both players are prepared and aware, it’s utterly impossible to kill Spiritmasters, even if I get to use everything.

Portals – Assassins. They’re pobably the king of field pvp. Not much you can do against assassin ganks.

Abyss – Spiritmasters. Their [Bind Wing] spell is infinintely frightening. I’m sure everyone feels the same about it.

Q. Any tips for other Templars?

I think most Templars don’t use [skill that decreases the target’s accuracy and dodge by 200 for 12 seconds].

Once you enter 2000 shield defense range, it’s much more effective than [Skill that decreases the target’s AP].

It’s what made me get hit for 100s while the other templar was getting wacked for 400s constantly in that one video.

You’ll find that most melee players don’t go for over 1900 accuracy. The accuracy and shield defense have a very close relationship. Gearing for more shield defense is the fastest way to becoming a true templar.

Q. Any last comments you want to make?

I find it embarrassing to get interviewed when there’ so many better players out there. I want to remind you what I am today isn’t all a Templar can be.

I hope this interview provide insight into Templar class for many players.

Q. What’s your goal?

I want to be the most well mannered templar in 메스람타server who can lead well. I want to thank people who helped me get this gear setting by participating in my experiments.
