1.3 High Grade Stigmas

High Grade Stigma

There’s a massive update over the horizon for this summer.

One of them is the new stigma system.

As you can see in the picture, the stigma slots will be changed and include couple more slots for the upcoming new grade stigmas.

While these high grade stigmas will have steep requirements, they will be powerful enough to worth the cost. Combined with the existing stigmas, they’ll make the game more dynamic.

Let’s learn about these high grade stigmas.

[picture here]

High grade stigmas are special stigmas only socketable in separate slots.

[same picture here again]

For example, in order to equip ‘A’ high grade stigma, you’ll have to have ‘B’ and ‘C’ regular stigmas already equipped.

The devs said there will also be high grade stigmas that require other high grade stigmas already equipped in order to be used.

Ultimately, this update will give u 3 more stigma sockets. Since you can still socket regular stigmas in these ‘special’ slots, you’ll be able to equip a total of 8 stigmas, even if you never get to have one of those high grade stigmas.

How to get them

Around 10 new stigmas will be added for each class (not just high grade, some new regulars as well)

There are two ways of acquiring these stigmas.

  1. Low chance world drop
  2. abyss points

Most of you will be looking at the 2nd option. Unfortunately, it is unknown who will be selling them and how you’d be using the points to get them

You also have to complete a quest to unlock the 3 extra sockets for the high grade sitgmas. The details regarding the quest have not been revealed.

New Stigmas, New play styles

Every class wil be able to enjoy two distinctive play depending on what stigmas they choose. For example Templars can either go for maximum aggro / high defense or improved attack ower.

Therefore, each player will have to carefully choose what stigmas that they want to go for, as your gameplay and strategies will change accordingly.

  1. Improved skill use and damage for spears
  2. Improveed skill use and damage for dual wield

  1. Improved defense/threat generation- maximizing your tanking abilities
  2. Debuff / offensive spells – PvP specialization

  1. Improved burst damage – now you can literally 1 shot people
  2. Improved burst with several debuffs!

  1. Improved movement – guerilla style!
  2. Improved long range attacks / damage – Sniper!

  1. Improved CCs and more defensive spells – improve your survivability in mass pvp
  2. Improved burst spell damage

  1. More PvP skills for your Spirit
  2. Stronger debuffs and dots

  1. More aoe healing spells and improved threat reducing abilities
  2. Improved offensive spells/quick recovery heals

  1. Improved melee skills for improved PvE and PvP
  2. Improved buffs and aoe recovery spells

64,000 Lifetime Kills; Sorcerer 천족대표

While I was browsing over AionChosun PvP tournament primary round candidates, this one player caught my eye. A lot of you proabably already know that I play a sorcerer and this player in article today is also one himself.

천족대표 from 지켈server had not only over 60k lifetime kills, but he is also topping the Abyss point ranking chart out of every server.

I’m sure a lot of you sorcerer players and PvP fans would like to hear his story.

Lifetime kills - 64,702 Best Rank - Elyos 2Star Lieutenant

Lifetime kills - 64,702 Best Rank - Elyos 2Star Lieutenant

천족대표- Elyos Sorcerer; 지켈server

Q. Nice to meet you. Could you give us a brief introduction?

Hello, I’m playing a sorcerer in 지켈server fighting for the Elyos’ cause. I am hardcore PvP person and currently have around 60k lifetime kills. I’m have to go to the army soon =(

Q. Could you tell us something about sorcerers :D?

Well, its a class that has the hardest damage per attack. However, when faced with an enemy head on, you have a really hard time due to low HP and lack of Stuns. You’ll come to really depend on your gear to keep you alive.

On a positive note, we can kite pretty well with our instant cast spells. Plus, [Volcanic Explosion] that you learn at 50 is pretty epic whereever there’s big PvP.

Q. Congratulations on making it to the primaries for the tournament. A lot of people were doubting that any sorcerers would make it up. What are your thoughts?

My chance of winning against a  Templar/Assassin/etc with Magic resistance set is probably 30% or less. There was a lot of that going around when this tournament started.

I mean if we were allowed to fly then I’m sure my chance would definately improve, but on ground level my options are very limited.

The only reason I’m here is to win the price so I can help out the less fortunate :D I’m the less fortunate of course lol.

Q. Mind giving us a brief introduction of your team?

Everyone in my team is completely decked out with +10 weapons and abyss gear. Combined with all of our PvP experience, I’m sure we’ll beat anyone.

Then again I’m sure other teams are full of 1%s too, but since we’re here anyway we’ll do our best to win.

보스 – Lvl 50 Gladiator

돈없고이쁜년 – Lvl 50 Templar

천족대표 – Lvl 50 Sorcerer

프로 – lvl 50 Assassin (Anyone remembe him from my earlier translation?)

Q. Any particular team you think you’ll have trouble against?

I’m sure all of them are pretty good since they all made it this far. Just looking at Asmodian teams its probably the GT team. There’s that guy with resistance set in there so I’m afraid I”ll be useless there.

Q. Any particular worries or concerns you have?

Basically what all Sorcerers fear really; magic resistance set,  Templar’s DP armor skill, assassins’ evasion skills, midair restraint etc- all of this is very deadly to a sorcerer in a 1:1 situation. Just really not much I can do against those.

Against a full magic resistance set, I get a disheartening number of resists even if I go for full spell hit set. The amount of attack power that assassins give up are nothing compared to the amount of HP we lose by going for spell hit.

When a Templar pops his [Armor of Resistance; increases resistance to all schools of magic by 800], I basically have to run away for 30 seconds, which by the way, is impossible due to charge and Pull, especially in a small area like the arena.

Also, Assassins with [Speed contract; increases attack speed by 20% for 30s] are way too overpowered. I often find myself getting floored before I could even pop my magic shield.

However, regardless of what opponent, once you survive that intial burst, the things go in favor of the sorcerer. This is my primary tactic in PvP; figuring out ways for me to survive that intial burst.

Q. Any complaints about the tournament?

I find it regrettable that we’re holding a tournament with broken PvP balance. I hope this opportunity comes again at a later time; when things are hopefully more balanced.

I also found it hard to communicate with the tournament manager. It was temporary but it took really long.

Q. You recently came in 1st place for weekly abyss point ranking. Any personal tips you could share with us?

I have over 2000 spell power with +23% damage bonus. I just go around spamming my AoE spells against clustered enemies in seiges.

I try to use use [카이시넬의 진노; a DP spell that does 2.5k fire damage to a target and up to 5 targets near the inital target] on every cooldown. I learn where the enemies are first, Pop my [강화의 은혜; a sstigma pell that increases spellpower by 500 for 15 seconds], and just bomb the hell out of them.

In mass pvp, don’t get hotheaded and take risks. Just try to do some damage on high rank players. As long as you did some damage, you’ll receive points when that player dies to something else. I made use of this tactic a lot.

Q. Anything change you’d like to see for Aion?

Buff Sorcerers please! We definately need some balance between magic resistance and spell hit.

When a fight starts, its not practical to stand there casting unless no one is targetting me. I hope NCsoft gives us something to make use of these 2s cast spells.

Q. Anything you want to say to the Sorcerer players?

While we often find ourselves dying before we could even try our skill, we are the ‘1 massive burst’ class.Don’t give up! and keep trying =] We’ll see light eventually.

1vR, Templar Style- 초유량

Seems like people love player interviews. Here’s another one!

There’s a new templar on the scene with a live stream that is becoming rapidly popular.

This stream features a templar venturing into enemy kiosk zones alone, or solo-pvping in abyss. From a quick glance, it doesn’t seem all that different from every other stream.

However, once you watch one of his streams, you’ll immediately come to notice the powerful endurance of the Templar has he takes on groups of enemies at once. It deemed interesting enough for many; even for some who doesn’t even play Aion.

The player in spotlight today is 초유량, an Asomidan templar from 메스람타server. Let’s start with a quick 1 minute highlight clip from one of his streams.

[Video can be found in original Link]

He was also recently featured in our video section. We met up with him for a quality time.

We were actually declined several times as he claimed there were far better Templar players than himself. While his real voice in streams were soothing and even peaceful, he had a charismatic character with a manly scar on his face.

Q. Many people are awed by your PvP. What are your thoughts?

While sorcerers and assassins have dps skills to shine their high damage role in pvp, we Templars have [Shield of Jikal], a skill that lets us survive much longer by strengthening our shield defense.

I’m doing as good as I’m doing because I make use of every skill I have. I’m sure there are many other templars can do just as well as me.

Q. You are alone in most of your videos. Any particular reasons?

I played solo-style in Lineage1, and Lineage2 as well. I guess it sort of stuck on me. I don’t really have particular reasons why.

It’s not like I avoid group pvp completely. Templars are just fine by themselves as they have such high defense, which is what I try to emphasize in my gear as well.

Q. Do you mind showing us your gear?

Hehe. There’s ton of people out there who have better gear than me, but sure. I actually have bunch of mixed pieces of 십부장, 천부장 and crafted gear. I have +10 Shining 암룡왕의 longsword and +2% paralyze divine stones.

I socketed evenly for attack power, shield defense, and crits. Right now, I’m at 462 AP, 2073 shield defense, and 300 crit.

I’m aiming for 2200 shield defense.

Q. Best 3 skills for Templars in PvP?

Pull (basically DK death grip) , Shield stun, and Mass taunt. (works like warrior demo shout, used to reveal stealth) Pull and shield stun is bread and butter for templars, and mass taunt works very nicely against assassins.

Q. What do you think makes you differ from other Templars?

A lot of people ask me why I use [+30% AP buff] instead of [100% single attack buff]

I think it’s fairly self explanatory. Added with proper stignma, you gain much more from 30% AP for 30 seconds.

I use Pull and Shield stun stigmas so I have maximum number of interrupts to use.

Q. You seem like you’re hiting quite hard even tho you’re a templar. What are your thoughts?

Well a kill is hard to pull off unless I have everything off cooldown.

When I am scoring quick kills on streams, thats when I’m popping every single cooldown I have at once.

Q. I still remember that one time when you killed a whole group by yourself. How did you do that?

Well, its mostly because I excell at solo pvp and because I tend to be near Kiosk zones (aka Graveyards but players spawn with low HP in Aion)

Please keep in mind there’s no way I can kill a group of equal lvl, equal gear players.

Even if you’re going against a group of low levels, you need to be aware of the group composition. I don’t charge in unless I was sure I had a high chance of winning.

Please don’t look at my videos and cry for Templar nerfs.

Q. How much AP do you get per day?

I have a job so I don’t get much. I get about 10k~20k on weekdays and 30k~40k on weekends.

Q. You have a +10 Shining 암룡왕의 longsword. How is that working out for you

If we’re just talking swords then it’s probably one of the best swords for Templars right now, but I think overall gear level is most important.

I tried to maximize for defense while maintaining a decent amount of AP. I got the weapon I wanted, but I still have a long way to go with armor and accessories.

Q. What are some of the classes you have hard time beating?

Duels – Spiritmasters. In 1v1s where both players are prepared and aware, it’s utterly impossible to kill Spiritmasters, even if I get to use everything.

Portals – Assassins. They’re pobably the king of field pvp. Not much you can do against assassin ganks.

Abyss – Spiritmasters. Their [Bind Wing] spell is infinintely frightening. I’m sure everyone feels the same about it.

Q. Any tips for other Templars?

I think most Templars don’t use [skill that decreases the target’s accuracy and dodge by 200 for 12 seconds].

Once you enter 2000 shield defense range, it’s much more effective than [Skill that decreases the target’s AP].

It’s what made me get hit for 100s while the other templar was getting wacked for 400s constantly in that one video.

You’ll find that most melee players don’t go for over 1900 accuracy. The accuracy and shield defense have a very close relationship. Gearing for more shield defense is the fastest way to becoming a true templar.

Q. Any last comments you want to make?

I find it embarrassing to get interviewed when there’ so many better players out there. I want to remind you what I am today isn’t all a Templar can be.

I hope this interview provide insight into Templar class for many players.

Q. What’s your goal?

I want to be the most well mannered templar in 메스람타server who can lead well. I want to thank people who helped me get this gear setting by participating in my experiments.

170k Abyss Points per Day! Interview with Ranger 야유

Here’s a short translation for you guys to read. Feels like my job is nearly coming to an end with NA Aion closing in =] I did this in like 30 mins so if there’s typos or general impossible to understand sentences, that’s too bad.

Inven.co.kr now prevents me from taking their pictures. Use the link below to visit the original post if you want to see pretty pictures :P

note – 천부장 set refers to lvl 50 end game stuffs that only the truly-without-life can purchase with Abyss points. You can look at them and drool with half envy and half pity here.

Please leave a comment so I know you were here =]

A question for all of you rangers out there, and everyone else who pvps in Abyss!

“What brings you to Abyss?”

Most players would say- ‘the excitement of PvP and RvR’  or ‘So I can buy full 천부장 armor set!!!’ etc. I’m sure each person has his/her own goals.

Today, we’re going to meet a ranger with a real goal, a player worthy of the being called ‘1%’ or even ‘0.1%’

It’s probably no problem for that man to buy anything he wants. The dude who solo-pvped from rank9 soldier to rank1 soldier on a single day with 170k AP; all done on live on his video stream channel. The next day, he does it again with another 170k AP and becomes 2star lieutenant.

Now, he’s sitting with whopping 530k AP as a 5star lieutenant with guardian transformation, aiming to buy 천부장 longbow, a weapon that costs 614,800 AP to buy. His name is 아유, an Elyos ranger from 유스티엘server.

A Link to his Armory

Q. We heard you are Chuck Norris. Could you give us a little introduction?

My name is 아유. I’m 21 yrs old and I live in 부산. I currently play in 유스티엘 server on Elyos side. and I run a Legion named ‘Freelancer’

We were formed under socializing purposes and nowadays we spend most our time on abyss.

Q. Whats the secret to having 7k hits on your character stat page?

I recently upgraded my computer and did a live stream for about 3 days. I called it the ‘Lets go Lieutenant’ project, where I showed how to survive in Abyss and bits of Ranger pvp. I guess people liked it a lot. Seemed like only people from my server was looking but now it seems like I get about 500 hits a day.

Q. So why are you not spending your points at 5star Lieutenant rank?

I’m actually saving for the longbow. Why..? I guess I just want to be stronger. I want to buy that bow, get it to +10 and win more. I needed a new goal to work on.

I’m at 530k now and have 80k more to go!

Q. We hear you work alone. Any particular reason?

I think almost everyone nowdays go around in groups, but I don’t think Rangers fit very well in group pvp setting. Besides, whenever there’s big pvp, the person with highest rank gets focused. It is in my best interest to not die since I’m saving for that bow.

Q. How much AP do you lose when you die at 5star Lieutenant? How are you maintaining that rank

Don’t die basically. lol

After 400k I killed a 3rank soldier and only got 350 pts. If I die I lose 5,000 AP. I thought that was lame. At this state, anyone would feel extremely pressured to stay alive. Also past 3rank soldier, everyone has a bit of PvP backbone, so it starts to get a little harder.

I’m forced to resort to repetitive quests.

After 4star Lieut its probably the safest and the fastest way to go.

Q. I’m sure everyone is dying to get their hands on your secret to AP farming

As you go up in rank, you’ll notice the pvp style changes drastically.

The way they travel, the aggressiveness, and all that stuff varies depending on the guy’s rank.

*Rank9 Soldier~ Rank1 Soldier – Rambo mode

You have nothing to fear. PIck the most croweded places to run around in. This is probably the best moments of your Aion pvp career. I didn’t run unless it went past 3v1.

I started off as Rank1 soldier and got to 2star Lieut in a day. I think I earned 169,296 there. I live streamed the whole thing.

*1star Lieut ~ 3star Lieut – A little more conservative. Guerilla time

Once you get that star, you start to change your style to guerilla warfare.

You know, hide by a frequently used roads and ambush or lure high rank players so you can fight them 1v1 some where else. If someone keeps chasing you, then keep running.

*4star Lieut – Now – Opportunist

Never. Ever. Strike unless you feel that you ahve 100% chance of winning. 95% isn’t good enough. The risk isn’t worth it.

Most AP you get at this level is from quests. I think I’m getting around 10k~30k per day now.

Q. Any personal tips to Abyss pvp?

It’s important to be a good player, but its also important to know your enemy. Armoy them on the homepage and learn the pvp styles of frequently fought enemies.

The game itself isn’t that complicated.

I think experience just really pays off.

Also, make use of your surroundings. In order to pull off a 2v1 or 3v1, you need to learn how to use the environment. For example, when people are chasing you, and you go through a building, its most likely that they’ll be spread out. Create that perfect timing for you to strike.

Lastly, don’t stop after reaching maximum flight speed increase. If you go beyond, you’ll find your flight speed increased in stealth as well. Every second counts.

Q. What was the hardest thing to deal with?

When I told my members that I was going for the 천부장 bow, I was told it’ll be extremely difficult to maintain that point level. Yes, it is hard but whats even more hard for me is the fact that I have to avoid all those PvP that I could’ve enjoyed. I got hotheaded for a moment today and ran out for some action and died twice.

I’d love to get that bow, but I really hate how the rank system limits you in pvp.

Q. So you’re a guardian now. How’s that as a Ranger?

Haha. well my character is female and looks a lot different from the ones you’ve seen. It sort of looks weaker.

It costs 3k AP to buy the seed required for the transformation, so it isn’t exactly used for regular occasions, as you have that burden on your back to earn more than 3k AP when you use it.

Most people probably only use it for seiges. It’s not that different from other class guardians. 80k hp. 160k mp. 10 minutes of awesomeness?

Supposedly there’s a 50% damage increase, but I don’t know. I didn’t feel that it was that much different from Lycan morph. I could floor a Templar with divine armor on when I’m a Lycan if i get a little lucky with crits, but as a Guardian its like even if that templar charges at me I can kill him without breaking a sweat.

Q. What are you gonna do after you get that bow?

There’s still tons of accessories and armor pieces that I need to buy. I think I’ll take my time and enjoy the PvP at that point.

Problematic Rank System, Needs Improvements!

Reverse Effect of Rank System

Aion’s Rank system was originally designed in order to stimulate RvR. However, it is hard to find such in Aion today. Rather than RvR, people are turning to other methods to boost their Abyss Points, and continuing to use such methods in order to maintain their rank; occurrences which developers clearly didn’t have in mind in the first place.

1. Pre-arranged killing between Asmodians and Elyos ‘Abusing the system’ and farming of the fortress guards – “Guard farm”‘ in order to become a high-ranker

2. Continuing the guard farming / slaughtering low levels to maintain rank

3. Avoiding large PvP in order to prevent point loss

Considering that these often lead to other problems as well, the problems that Aion’s Rank System face are quite serious.

Separation of zones doesn’t allow natural conflict between two factions; creating a barrier that prevents active RvR. Combined with the Rank System, Aion could end up as “League of the Rankers.”

Hence, I’d like to propose some ideas that could improve this Rank system, which has lost its original purpose.

How Rank System can be improved

1. Abyss point reset

Players who gained points from guard farming or system abusing must not go free.

The Admins should be checking player to player to catch such exploiters, but catching them all is realistically impossible.

While it’s true that they exploited the system, the problem was started by the poor design on the Dev’s part.

The fundamentals must be fixed before anything can be done.

Although some innocent players may suffer, point reset has to be done.

Of course, the players should be given a chance to acquire something else with their points before the reset.

Rather than just resetting the points, it’d be just ‘over-encouraging’ the spending of the points.

If this provides a base on which Abyss RvR system can be improved, doing this would be beneficial, rather than destructive.

2. Rank up Quests

There has to be some kind of safe device for Rank System in order to prevent reverse effects.

As of now, if player spends his or her abyss points, he/she loses the rank along with the point decrease. This is a problem.

In order to fix this, some kind of mandatory quests should be given for each rank and a limit should be set to how much points a ranker can acquire in that particular rank.

Since the maximum amount of points will be limited for each rank, it will act as a device against guard farming and ‘system abuse’.

In other words, once a player completes a rank up quest, his/her possible max amount points will be in increased and he/she will be allowed to rank up without doing the quests again if he/she loses the rank by spending points.

What kind of quests should be given as Rank up quests? The answer lies in making use of the existing quests.

Among the existing quests in game, there are quests that ask the player to kill certain number of particular rankers. The developers could simply convert these into rank up quests.

For example, in order to advance from [Rank 8 Soldier] from [Rank 9 Soldier], the player would need do a quest that requires him to kill certain number of [Rank 9 Soldiers] on the opposite faction. Doesn’t it sound perfect for rank up quests?

If infiltration type quests would be added into higher rank advance requirements, it’d prevent high rankers avoiding RvR, also providing a base for high rankers to meet up with each other so they can fill their quest requirements.

Although it’s rather forceful, it would also encourage high rankers to aid their faction more.

Is a player fitting of the title ‘Commander in Chief’ if he ignores his faction in need of help?

3. Varying the acquirable amount of points from NPCs and Abyss mobs according to rank

Killing NPCs from opposite faction or abyss mobs increases Abyss points

Currently the points dropped by the NPCs are greater than the points dropped from most players, which basically lead to players farming the fortress guards for points.

Other than the ‘system abuse’, this method is the easiest way for players to acquire points. It is also far safer than actually killing players for points. Hence this method is used by most of the high rankers.

While this is hard to do in a server with an active Abyss, it’s no problem for players who already achieved high rank.

Today, they are using their transformation skills to do NPC farm runs around artifacts and fortresses.

When the Rank system should be PvP-oriented, it is currently most easily achieved through PvE, and maintained by PvE. This doesn’t make any sense.

The amount points dropped by NPCs and Abyss mobs should be decreased for high rankers, discouraging NPC farming and encouraging them to participate in RvR.

4. Flexible Rank system

While each server has fairly similar number of players on each faction, the amount of hardcore players varies, leading to faction imbalance.

Therefore Rank system must be improved to adapt to each servers’ needs.

The requirement for advancing in rank should be lowered for the losing side.

The buff currently bestowed to the faction with less key points controlled, ‘Divine Blessing – +15% damage” should be correctly applied to the faction with less Rankers and less total abyss points.

5. As the devs originally intended

Even if all the bright ideas here are implemented, it will be of no use if Aion fails to create an environment fitting for such changes.

While Aion’s overall game play should be leaning toward RvR participation, Aion’s current ideology evolves around separation. Because of such structure, there’s less chance for players to PvP in the fields, which is unfitting for an RvR game.

While the Abyss was designed to be the main stage of RvR, people are avoiding to even go there. Currently, the Aion RvR consists of mere ganking, high lvls slaughtering low lvls, and taking over quest zones to interfere with other players’ questing.

The current scale of conflict between two races are so tiny that it could be described as pathetic. Improvement is urgent.

If Devs could come up with ways to fix these issues along with improvements for the rank system, Aion will be reborn as an amazing game.

This is just the beginning

Whatever comes tomorrow will act as temporary fixes unless something arrives that’s big enough to change the entire game.

While current system is in ruins, any temporary measure against it will buy criticism from the players.

I won’t say sacrifice the minority for the greater good.

Nor am I going to say we should let these abusers go.

I’m just suggesting a new beginning for all to a fresh start, where we could do things right.

The rank system needs improvements and so does Aion. Shouldn’t the changes in Rank system be a beacon of light for many improvements to follow? ‘New wine goes in new bottle…’

<picture here>

PS ) Also need an option to turn off global alert spams that pop-up whenever high rankers do something!!!

It’s going to be even more severe when more high rankers appear.

Considering how powerful a high ranker can be, it must affect a lot of players. Jan 12, the day 하야덴 achieved the final rank, I went to interview the players on what they think of this event.

Not that different – Elyos

Just judging by looking at the areas controlled, it seemed that Elyos players were doing okay against 하야덴.

I met with players who told us that they’ve fought 하야덴 several times on the field before he achieved the final rank; 월터 and the players he partied with during the encounter: 오반, 에르휘나, and 애교.

Q. How much do you play in Abyss?

월터: I basically live there. I can’t sleep until I’ve gotten 20k points. (laughs)

에르휘나: I spend most of the day pvping in Abyss.

애교: Over 12 hours.

Q. What do you think about [Commander in Chief] showing up Asmodian side?

오반: Nerf plox.. (laughs)

월터: Certainly not happy to see it. I’d congratulate him but I’d like to ask him not to go on a slaughter. It’s really hard once he shows up and breaks thru 프리뭄.

애교: Just concerned that it’s not going to be a fair fight

Templar 월터

Q. Ever fought 하야덴?

월터: I actually met him several times just today. I noticed that he’s using a new skill [Abyssal Execution]. If I wasn’t prepared for it with [Divine Armor] (Increases max hp by 50%, greatly increases resistance to all impairment effects), I probably would’ve gotten 1 shotted. I think he got 3x stronger than he was back when he was [Rank 5 Lieutenant]. It’s not that we can’t beat him at all. It’s just matter of finding him. Like I can probably beat him if he’s not transformed.

Q. How’s the fight when he’s transformed?

월터: I used to tank him so other people could run to safety. I dunno if it’s because I drop a lot of points as [Rank 2 Soldier] or because I bothered him a lot, but he usually comes for me first.

He showed up for a fortress siege some time ago. He was transformed already of course. There was about 40~50 of us there. We tried to take him down but it didn’t go too well. Really hard when he recovers 50% hp instantly every now and then.

애교: It’s basically not possible to kill him when he’s transformed.

에르휘나: Tried several times in groups, never got him down. The cleric DP skill thing has 2000 DP cost and 1 min cooldown. DP is really easy to come by when you’re cutting thru players. I bet Templar would also make an overpowered Guardian if [Divine Armor] works during transformation as well.

월터: Just.. run away. Not much we can do these days.

An Elyos player 아소카 said that it doesn’t matter much for people who don’t go to the Abyss, but it must be very annoying to people trying to quest or level up in Abyss.

He also told us how he once went to quest after capturing an artifact with his party, when 하야덴 came by himself and captured it. He stated that he didn’t change much other than the fact that he gained a few more skills.

An Elyos Templar 빛s said that “The game is more fun when you have a goal,” explaining how “a rival makes you wanna play harder”.

Many people commented on the imbalance of the Guardian tranformation: “Is NCsoft going patch first, think later?” “Needs to be patched immediately.”

Some are also saying that guardians are overpowered just because their DP skill applies literally during transformation, such as Cleric’s DP heal.

Some also stated that guardians make up for the lack of end game content, providing a goal for max levels to go for.

Other than that, some players said “He was already too strong I can’t even tell how much stronger he became” “Currently there’s a lot of people who achieved [Rank 5 Lieutenant] through point abuse. If more illegitimate overpowered guardians pop out, even the regular players will be encouraged to cheat.”

A Guardian Angel – Asmodians

Elyos players congratulated 하야덴 while some expressed concern and worries. How about Asmodian players?

하야덴 is the smaller one

하야덴 is the smaller one

흉악잔인무도 said “It’s ‘really helpful to overall RvR. We usually get a little outnumbered in fortress sieges, but 하야덴 seems to completely cover that when he shows up.”

헬파이어said “I’m happy but kind of jealous at the same time. A lot of PvP breaks out in the western parts, it seems the table turns around every time 하야덴shows up on the field”

“Although it’s kind of annoying since everyone runs away when 하야덴 shows up..”

놀부 said “I don’t really care. It’s just 1 person for now but I don’t know how Abyss is going to be once there’s 100 of them on each side. I doubt many regular players will be coming to Abyss then. I really hope it doesn’t end up as League of 200”

While I could find more happy players on the Asmodian sides, the number of complaints about PvP balance was the same.

Abyss: This is just the beginning

The recent patch with additions to Abyss gear motivated a lot of players to participate in the Abyss. It can be assumed that the patch was meant by the Devs to create such an effect.

While Devs probably looked at the big overall picture when they designed these Guardians, it’s true that first and every Guardian is creating a large barrier for regular players. Especially, if they become concentrated in 1 faction, the effect will be even worse.

Even if each faction gets an equal number of Guardians, regular players will find that they mean very little in those fights of the giants, which will just lead into people losing interest in the Abyss.

Guardian: the ultimate weapon

However, seeing how the future is uncertain, shouldn’t change start happening so Aion doesn’t end up as 100vs100: League of Guardians?

Aion too hardcore or too soft? You decide

This is a very old translation and is most likely outdated. Stop linking it as if its the current numbers. Just appreciate it as one of my past contribution to the community please =] I don’t want to delete my old translations as I go.

Someone actually went out of their way to add up all exp you can get from quests for Elyos.

The total exp refers to the total amount of exp you need to level.

The quest exp refers to the amount of exp you can get if you complete every single quest in game that you can get at that level listed at Powerbook from Aion official homepage. The OP did not include abyss/Poeta(?) quests. It refers purely to the exp given as reward upon turning in. I was also told that this chart is missing several quests. Just take this chart as a general outline.

The grind exp refers to the exp you’d have to get by grinding mobs in order to fill the remaining exp in order to level.

Lvl 10~20

Lvl 20~30

Lvl 30~44

As you can see, the questing start to fade away after lvl 20, when players complain that more repetitive, grindy quests start to appear, then after lvl 30, its almost grind to level.

During open beta, a Chinese player named MS추풍 hit lvl 30 (max lvl at the time) just in 3 days purely out of grinding mobs with Assassin. He skipped all quests due to him not being able to understand Korean. After retail opened he became the first lvl 45 Elyo. He was 2nd place in the whole game however.

A Korean player named 대망 hit lvl 30 like few hours after MS추풍 did with a Templar. He said that he only slept 9 hrs. He did do quests, as his lvl up screenshot shows that he got lvl 30 with a quest completion.

One week after Aion went retail, a guy named 도왕 hit World’s First Lvl 45 as Assassin. He said it took 18 hours for him to just go from 44 to 45. He said he grinded his way up while dualboxing a chanter for heals.

Edit – To those going die-hard to discredit this info again. Those missing quests/whatever you are referring to does NOT change the shape of this graph. Group quests? If you are a SpiritMaster or a Ranger it’ll be almost impossible to do them since they don’t want you in parties. I can go ahead and find 10 more articles on how Aion turns into a grindfest after lvl 30 (It might not be grindfest for some, but for WoW players, just killing same mobs over and over without quests is a grindfest). People from l2 are saying its fine. Now some people just to go out of there way to prove that its more softcore in fear that some people will be turned off by the grind part. There’s even players confirming that in the comments. Stop trying so hard. The more you try, the more bad stuff I have to find in order to defend my credibility. You guys are just digging your own grave.
