I am so in Aion.

12/17/08 Patch, What does it mean?

Hello Everyone. Today I woke up at 3pm to find out Aion got new updates, and that someone already beat me to translations. I thought about doing proper translation of the whole patch notes, but it kinda seemed pointless since someone already posted understandable translations for the skills part, and rest of them are generic bug fix/event notes. It’s like someone already took the candy and whats left is candy wrapper to chew on.

Anyway, there still seems to be things to address, as I did for last patch; What does it mean?

This patch addressed 4 classes; Rangers, Spiritmasters, Clerics and Chanters

Ranger

– Ranger Skill [Arrow Assault] (Akka Lottery Shot) Minimum damage was increased.

This skill used to do 100~1400 damage. Now it does 200~1400 damage.

– Ranger Skill [Snare Arrow] (Slows enemy for 8~16 seconds) Is now usable while moving

Irrelevant. People were already jumpshotting to use these.

– The auto-attack feature patch was reversed so that Ranger skills no longer initiate normal attack upon use.

This means Jumpshot is now back to what it was before last patch. Rangers are calling this patch a buff. Not because of the skill changes, but because they jumpshot like they did before (without file tweaks). From what I see here, NCsoft is failing to address the core problem and still refusing to acknowledge that jumpshot is a bug.

SpiritMaster

– Increased base HP and HP increase from stats for all Spirits

SpiritMasters were complaining because their main skill that makes their summon powerful became a DP skill, meaning they couldn’t use it all the time. There were complaints that prolonged fights with the mobs would kill the summon. I guess this would help with that somewhat.

– Increased movement speed for all Spirits
(Fire Spirit: 7 → 8 / Wind Spirit: 10 → 11 / Earth Spirit: 5 → 7 / Water Spirit: 6 → 8 )

Same as above. Nice to have but not exactly what they wanted. If they did this instead of making summons fly, then NCsoft really needs to be slapped in the face.

– Spiritmaster Skill [Remove Buff] casting speed has been reduced from 1.5sec to 0.5sec. Cooldown time increased from 6sec to 10sec.

The problem with the summoner debuffs was that it consumed TOO MUCH mana. Once again, they are failing to see the core of the problem. It seems like NCsoft dev team themselves are unsure of what direction they want to take the spiritmasters to.

Clerics

– Cleric Lvl 45 Spell [[E] Light of Youstiel I] and [[A] Light of Marukutan I] Cooldown increased from 20 seconds to 3 minutes.

Before you cleric wannabes panic, keep in mind tha this isn’t one of the main heals, this is a group heal + HoT. You shouldn’t be spamming group heal to begin with. From what I see Aion party play doesn’t take more than 1 mob at a time for efficiency. 2+ requires Sorcerer to CC. 3+ is dangerous. 4+ is wipe. However, it does effect PvP situations where you have more than one people about to be floored. Anyhow, this seems like a very minor nerf.

Chanter

– Aura descriptions now show exact numbers

Uh Oh. Now more people can see exactly how utterly noob Chanter buffs are.

– Chanter Spell [Incantation of Revival] has been given a higher rank priority than the Cleric Spell [Light of Renewal] (meaning Incantation of Revival will always override Light of Renewal when both of them are cast) (These are HoT spells)

This may seem like nothing. But this is a huge nerf for Chanters in terms of party play. It takes out one of the reasons to takea chanter + cleric in a party. What is the point of taking chanter plus cleric if their heals don’t stack?

In addition to these skill changes, new seal stones were added (ones that you can socket into items) that gives magic resistance. I am not sure how much difference they make at this time, but this certainly sounds like an overall buff for all classes against Sorcerers/Spiritmasters.

Also, they decreased difficulty for the 20% speed increase boots quest.

  1. Well atm I think that the important issues are taking more then just minor changes in the code which means they will come with time.. but not mentioning it and getting these very minor fixes out is not helping one bit ><

  2. Ok, Rangers are buggy, dont play unless you wanna be a rabbit and crash your keyboard.

    Chanters are now buff pet’s of sorcerors only, not healers anymore.

    Spiritmaster… i can just feel sorry for them…

    Clerics only afected in pvp, do they have other party heal skill? if do that was basically nothing, i mean spam of party heals with HoT would be really strange…
